Madison Presbyterian Church Leadership
We understand that each of us is called to ministry by God. That ministry takes different forms, but everyone in this community is a "god-bearer". No matter where we are on our journey we are loved by God and part of God's mission to do good and build up this world. There are many ways to participate in leadership roles in the church. Some teach, some help lead worship, some take on a short term project. We do elect some to ordained offices and rely on volunteers to do the ongoing work of the church, providing organization, structure and vision so we continue to serve God faithfully. They include our session, deacons, and committee members.
Rev. Karen VanderPloeg
Pastor
Karen has spent more than 30 years in ministry and has served in many capacities: at church camp, in youth ministry, as a mission worker overseas, as an educator, an ordained minister, and on the staff of the Maumee Valley Presbytery.
She began serving Madison in March 2023. Karen loves worship that engages the congregation through interaction, and she loves nurturing churches as the grow in service to their community. She finds joy in seeing the new and amazing things God is doing in the church and in the world.
In addition to her work, Karen enjoys spending time with her family, including her three adult children. She enjoys working on her home and yar, reading, hiking, trying out new restaurants, bars, music, and more.
